It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a new author to find an agent or a publisher, particularly if the story is a “one off” with no follow up.
Agents and publishers are interested in established authors and minor celebrities with disreputable, scandalous pasts, selling their kiss-and-tell stories.
My book being published after 14 years’ of failing to find a publisher is due to the help and encouragement of an author and journalist, Deborah Durbin.
I can really feel for numerous other budding writers, with worthwhile novels, who will unlikely be getting a break, but in the words of Churchill, never, never, never give up.
